THE EVALUATION OF THE PILOT IMPLEMENTATION OF DEMOCRATIC CITIZENSHIP AND HUMAN RIGHTS COURSE IN THE FIRST SEMESTER - ANTALYA.
Our school principal Mr Onur Bekyürek, history teacher Ms Fatma Çetintaş and philosophy teacher Mr Süleyman Aktaş attended the seminar in Antalya. "Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights
Education Project" is implemented by the Board of Education of the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Europe in order to strengthen the values of democracy and human rights in Turkey and to increase the democratic
standards
of our education system through raising awareness in the field. One of the main activities of this project is developing curricula.
The Project Launching Event was held in Ankara with the participation of
Mr Ömer Dinçer, Minister of National Education on 12 April 2012 and the project
will be completed in June 2014. The new elective course curriculum on "Democracy
and Human Rights" for secondary education will be implemented in 11 pilot
schools in ten provinces in the 2012 - 2013 academic year. In this framework, a
seminar was held in Rixos Hotel, Antalya on 28 - 30 January 2013. School
principals and the teachers of the elective course on Democracy and Human Rights
attended the seminar. During this three-day training participants evaluated the
activities used as part of the course in the first semester, several workshops
on teaching methodologies were held by international experts, teachers worked on
the new activities to be utilised in the second semester, and there was also a
short seminar on the authentic tools and techniques used for measurement and
evaluation of the pilot implementation.

We held the
elections for our school parliament at Dedekorkut Anatolian High School. All
candidates ran their campaign for days prior to the elections to collect votes.
After a period of rigorous competition Mert Topaloğlu collected the highest
number of votes and now holds the presidency.

A delegation of the representatives of the Council of Europe and the Board of Education, MoNE visited our school today.
The main aim of the visit was to increase the awareness level about the elective course on "Democracy and Human Rights" and about the Generation Democracy project. They were also
interested in communicating with our teachers to inform them about the curriculum and the activities and to exchange ideas.
